Ayer, 20 de enero del 2025 fue la inauguración de Donald Trump para su segundo mandato como presidente de EE.UU. En esta ceremonia se vieron muchas cosas bastante cuestionables, pero sin duda alguna la que más impresionó a muchos ha sido el "gesto" hecho por Elon Musk (que para cualquier persona con educación sobre la historia del siglo XX es instantáneamente reconocido como el saludo Nazi, el saludo de Hitler).
Un escenario escalofriante, de eso no cabe duda alguna. Terrorífico, espeluznante. Ambas palabras describen bastante bien la situación. Ya vemos el inicio de un régimen de odio, de censura, y me temo que de eliminación de lo que a ellos no les parezca.
Algo que resulta curioso es la actitud que tienen los seguidores de Trump (y de paso, de Musk). Siendo alguien de Latinoamérica me doy cuenta fácilmente de cuando se tiene en frente a un populista y a un potencial dictador. Asimismo, ¡la mentalidad de culto es visible a miles y miles de kilómetros! El fanatismo de los seguidores de Trump es el mismo fanatismo del chavismo en Venezuela (sólo que hacia el otro lado del compás político). Un culto. Una potencial dictadura.
Hasta hace unos años, a lo mejor hasta hace 10 años, los EE.UU era un país al que muchos miraban con admiración y al que muchas personas querían ir, pero hoy la realidad es totalmente lo contrario. El país se convirtió en un ejemplo de lo que no hay que hacer, un ejemplo de la ignorancia y del odio, de la avaricia y el individualismo. Como todos los imperios, éste tenía que caer y es precisamente eso lo que está ocurriendo con Estados Unidos.
¿Se darán cuenta alguna vez, de que ya no son "el mejor país del mundo"?

Yesterday, on the 20th of January of 2025 was the inauguration of Donald Trump for his second period as the president of the USA. In this ceremony, many questionable things were seen, but without a doubt, the one that was the most shocking to many was the "gesture" made by Elon Musk (which, to anyone educated on the history of the 20th century is instantly recognised as the Nazi salute, the Hitler salute).
A chilling scenario, undoubtedly. Horrifying, nightmarish. Both words describe the situation pretty well. We can already see the beginning of a regime of hate, of censorship, and I'm afraid that it will be a regime of eliminating anything they do not deem of their liking.
One thing that is curious is the attitude that Trump (and Musk) supporters have. Being Latin American I can easily notice when there's a populist or a potential dictator in front of us. Furthermore, the cult mentality is visible from thousands of kilometres! The fanaticism of Trump supporters is the same fanaticism of 'chavismo' in Venezuela (just flipped to the other side of the political compass). A cult. A potential dictatorship.
Up until some years ago, maybe even until 10 years ago, the USA was a country admired by many and to which many people wanted to go, but the reality of today is the complete opposite. The country has turned into an example on what not to do, an example of ignorance and hatred, of greed and individualism. Like every empire, this one had to fall and that is precisely what is going on with the United States.
Will they realise one day, that they are no longer "the best country in the world"?
